There really is nothing better than a rooftop bar and London sure has an amazing selection of them, from those with views of iconic buildings such as The Shard or St Paul’s to those which are set high on the top of disused car parks!
We’ve made the ultimate list of London’s best rooftop bars so you can quickly find the one you want to go to and enjoy drinks with friends.
We’ll start with central…as it’ll likely be where you are or have easy access to.
OXO Tower Rooftop Bar | Southbank
The iconic tower has a rooftop bar with stunning views across the river Thames, with a great menu and lovely cocktail menu it’s a must visit when the sun comes out. You’ve seen it from the outside, now see it… from the outside again, as you’ll be on their river-facing terrace. The drinks here are pretty decent, and we put a lot of, ahem, stock in their cocktails.

Radio Rooftop Bar | Covent Garden
Looking for a rooftop bar with a fantastic atmosphere and even better cocktails? Then head to Radio Rooftop Bar in covent garden, you wallet may hurt a little after but with views across London including St Pauls, The Shard, Houses of Parliament and the London (coco-cola) Eye it’s worth the prices.

Vista at the Trafalgar | Trafalgar Square
You’d never know this was here but once you’ve visited this fantastic bar you’ll wish you’d known about it earlier. With unique views across Trafalgar Square with Nelson’s column proudly in front of you it’s a fine place for a drink or two.

Rumpus Room | Southbank
Not the biggest of rooftop bars but worth a mention due to the fantastic views across the Thames, you’ll likely have to stand or be lucky to get a stool but with a view like this you’ll not even think about that!

Notch | Marble Arch
Shopping around Oxford Street and fancy a drink? Then there’s no better place than Notch, a unique rooftop venue with delicious Japanese street food and unique cocktails served in unusual things it’s a must visit.

Aqua Kyoto | Soho
Another just off Oxford Street this fantastic rooftop bar lets you enjoy views across London and escape the hustle and bustle of the streets below. A lovely range of drinks and food, it won’t be the cheapest drinks you’ve ever bought but they’re worth the price.

Madison | Bank
London’s best rooftop bars have this one often at the top of the list and a visit will show you why. You’ll find the best views of St Paul’s in the city and all the while enjoying great drinks, whether it’s a cocktail, beer, bottle of wine or whatever your tipple is. Great all year round as they have indoor and outdoor seating (with heaters)

Queen of Hoxton | Shoreditch
Not been here yet? If no then you need to change that answer! A fantastic and quirky venue which in the winter has wigwams on the top but come summer is filled with music, BBQ’s and more.

SUSHISAMBA | Liverpool Street
One of the best places in London to enjoy Sushi and stunning views, situated in the Heron Tower it’s open till 3am on weekends and even has a massive tree in the middle!

Golden Bee | Shoreditch
You’ll find yourself thinking you’ve just landed in LA when you visit Golden bee, they have it all with palm trees in the background, cocktails to die for and sofas to relax in! Not as high as others but certainly worth a visit when the sun’s out.

Coq d’Argent | Bank
One of the most unique rooftop bars, sitting on top of ruins which date back to around 47AD this bar offers amazing views across the city and beautiful design not to mention some wonderful cocktails, beers and drinks to enjoy.

Boundary | Shoreditch
With 360 degree views across Shoreditch you’ll find this is a mecca for people in the summer, enjoy a great range of drinks and food in a beautiful rooftop bar.

Skylounge | Bank
On top of the Hilton you’ll find this wonderful venue featuring two different terraces both of which are on the 12th floor you’ll get a fantastic view of The Shard and other London landmarks, great to enjoy the summer sun in with a glass of wine and a nibble.

Netil360 | London Fields
Serving you some fantastic craft beers and having a wonderful view across to the city and the surrounding area you’ll feel right at home here. With a chilled vibe as it’s both a cafe, bar and workspace it’s worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Culpeper Roof Garden | Spitalfields
A rooftop that feels half bar half allotment sounds odd but really works, the fantastic rooftop bar of the Culpeper features a greenhouse which sits around 15 people and plenty of outdoor seating. It get’s busy on nice days but is well worth a visit.

The Fox | Haggerston
Pretty and has a big range of craft beers, if these are two things you’re after or at least like in a rooftop bar then The Fox is definately worth a visit.

Angler Rooftop Restaurant and Terrace | Moorgate
If you like to combine your rooftop bar with Michelin star food then this place is for you.The rooftop is on top of the South Place hotel and although the views aren’t quite those of others the drinks and food do make up for it.

Roof East | Stratford
Yes this is a car park with a bar on it, in fact it’s the 8th floor rooftop car park in Stratford but has been converted in a unique space which has an amazing vibe. Sit on a bench, enjoy the views across to the Olympic stadium while enjoying a cocktail or relax with a glass of Pimms while watching a film at one of the popup movie nights.

Frank’s Cafe & Campari Bar | Peckham
Another rooftop bar which is the top story of a car park, definitely worth a visit with great views and great drinks.

The Prince of Wales | Brixton
The Prince has a perfectly lovely roof terrace, but the best part of the place is Sovereign Loss; the cocktail bar underneath it all. It’s small, speakeasy-like, and is one of the best kept secrets in South London. Grab a drink there, and head upstairs for a chaser. VIEW DETAILS

The Roof Gardens | Kensington
You’ll feel in another country or even world in this unique rooftop garden in Kensington, with unique cocktails, views across the area and often filled with jazz it’s a must visit this summer. London’s only private members club with a membership (£400) you get fast track access and a whole host of other perks.

Vivo | Islington
Love Italian food and want to soak up the sun? Then head over to Vivo in Islington as they have some delicious food and a great roof terrace, a little sun trap for those wanting to feel like they’ve just landed in Italy.

The Lock Tavern | Camden
Not the highest roof terrace you’ll ever go to but it’s got some great chilled music, great value drinks and a lovely atsmophere.
